Ultra Fit Saves Lives and offers A Better Quality of Life!
Dear Mr. DeFendis,
Four years ago I lost my father to heart disease and this year I lost my mother to cancer. I was my mother’s caretaker for the past two years.
For the first time in my life I am scared and I need your advice. I am about 100 pounds overweight and so unhappy with myself.
I am on two blood pressure medications and have recently been diagnosed with diabetes, which I am sure has a lot to do with my weight, lack of exercise and eating habits. For the past two years my focus was on mom, so I did nothing to try to lose weight.
Prior to that I had tried all of the fad diets in the magazines and even used the pre-packaged foods, protein shakes and bars with little or no results. I have walked miles upon miles and spent an eternity on treadmills and stationary bicycles in a futile attempt to lose the weight, yet still no success.
I now realize that my health may have a profound effect on my children and their future and I want to do something about it. How do you suggest I begin? — Marlena
Thank you for writing, as my passion is weight loss and health, and it started when I saved my mother’s life by helping her lose 180 pounds after she had several bouts with heart disease. That was 35 years ago, and my mother celebrated her 79th birthday two weeks ago while she roller skated and square danced the night away!
Your attempts at weight loss have been futile because you were fed a lot of misinformation and took the wrong approach. Unfortunately, you still worked hard and it hurts not to succeed, even when it wasn’t your fault.
I want you to know that many people started where you are now and did succeed, because they found the right program and people who cared about them.
I would like to share this letter from one of our clients, as it shows her journey and will give you hope:
“I am a single mother of one (Hunter). I made a promise to my dying mother in August of 2010 that Hunter would never have to take care of me, the way I did her, due to preventable health issues. I have often thought of losing weight and getting healthier but felt there was no time. My resolution for 2011 was to fulfill my promise and take the first step on what has come to be the journey to a longer and healthier life.
“Being single in this economy, I had to find a way. So when tax time rolled around I made the decision that has changed my life forever. I teamed up with Ultra Fit Trainer Trey Cathcart and have never looked back. I joined Ultra Fit on March 5 and have lost 35 pounds and 9.5 inches off my waist (nearly 30 inches total). I have the energy to get out and enjoy my son more and more every day. I have also been able to stop taking my cholesterol medications, as well as my fluid pill and blood pressure medication.
“It feels so good to have my 10-year-old to come up and say, “Mom I can reach all the way around you when I hug you. There is less of you now, but I love you so much more ’cause I know I can love you even longer now.”
If not for your program, I truly believe that I would see mom again before I ever had a chance to see my grandchildren.
“Thank you! — Beth Rogers”
