Q: I am overweight and need to lose about 100 pounds and get in shape for my health. I have tried many programs but failed to lose weight every time.
I heard about your Ultra Fit Weight Loss program and started with one of your personal trainers about a week ago and I am excited. Unfortunately, the other day my daughter called my trainer and told him that I purchased and ate some cookies at the mall.
I was devastated when the trainer approached me about it because I gave him my commitment and now I feel like I have let my trainer down and that my daughter betrayed me. This has derailed my program.
How do I get back on track?
A: Thank you for writing and for trusting me for an answer to your dilemma.
I would first like to address your perception that your daughter has betrayed you. This is definitely not the case. On the contrary, I feel that she loves and cares enough about you to face your fury by telling the trainer so that he could address it and hold you accountable to the program. By doing this, she might have saved your life and has afforded you a longer life. Isn’t that the reason why you hired your personal trainer and started your program in the first place?
With that said, we have established that people really love and care about you and want you to succeed. I love it when a client’s loved ones support the journey and try to help. This will make it easier for you to stay on track and lose the weight. Your daughter is a sweetheart and she deserves a big hug.
In regards to your program being derailed, it is only derailed if you are looking for an out, an excuse or a means to avoid getting in shape.
Why would you do this? Simply because you are afraid that you will fail like you feel you have several times before. What you must realize is that you did not fail before. You just followed the wrong program or received bad advice.
A good program will afford you great results, and those results will keep you in the game. A great trainer will help you stay on track and, by doing so, you will succeed.
Corrine, please follow the program and allow your trainer to guide you, train you, educate you, hold you accountable and motivate you. You will enjoy the benefits of good health, a great body and a longer life. More importantly, you will be here to enjoy your children and your grandchildren and set the example for them to live a disciplined and healthy life.
Please stay in touch and let me know how you are doing.
And don’t forget to give your beautiful daughter a hug!
